As a kid growing up in Ireland in the
latter half of the last century I was exposed to a lot of music.
Everything from Tammy Wynette and Perry Como, to T.Rex and Tina
Turner! Not to mention Sinatra, Sabbath and Sandy Shaw. My taste in
music was all over the place. No change there then!
Anyway, to make a short story ever longer,
I got a transistor radio (as they were called back in those far off
days!) for my birthday in 1973. As luck would have it, I happened upon
the first Radio Seagull whilst doing a bit of late night
knob-twiddling! At that moment I discovered what real alternative music
radio was all about. And although I didn't realise it at the time, I had
also discovered the gateway to the eventual career and haphazard
existence that I enjoy to this day.

So, after
many happy and eventful years on Radio Caroline and Irish local radio, I
have returned to my roots. Radio Seagull is still real, still
alternative. And now, for me, it has something more; a group of
like-minded and dedicated people working together to keep music radio
real. And, by the way, you won't here Tammy or Perry on my programme
these days, but listen out for The Clash, The Pixies, Muse, The Cowboy
Junkies, The Raconteurs, Joy Zipper, The Allman Brothers, Director,
Everclear, Fountains Of Wayne, Neil Young, The Dandy Warhols and maybe,
if you're very lucky, some T.Rex...!
