Radio Seagull on air: Martin Smith

I started my interest in radio with the pirates of the 70’s, Caroline, RNI, Radio Atlantis. At the tender age of 14 I did the ‘Young DJ Spot’ on Capital Radio, a place I spent many a weekend hanging around to meet my hero of the day Kenny Everett. So off to Hospital Radio’s Medway and Maidstone for the ground work training and knob twiddling. At BBC Radio Medway, I was the stand in presenter for Kent Rocks and a regular contributor with the weekly Gig Guide.

During this period I was also in demand for Voice Over work for Radio, TV and Audio Visual projects. When Medway FM began RSL’s I presented the Breakfast Show and participated in all their other RSL’s and including when they won the application to have the licence to broadcast to the Medway Towns. (now KMFM)

In October 2003 I joined Radio Caroline and carved out a spot as the Sunday Morning breakfast presenter till October 2005, this was in addition to doing programmes for ERBS Radio and TNI Radio.

Today I’m providing programmes for Radio Seagull and Radio Caroline, I guess I just can’t keep away from the microphone.
