NEWS ARCHIVE March - July 2007

The onboard transmitter arrives

Chris Kennedy live on air in July

Chris B test drives the new studio on board the ship

'Sietse Brouwer Writes...

Opening Studio

It is with great pleasure that we (sort of) finalised the construction of the first onboard studio. Even though the pride and joy (our Harris Gates rotating fader mixer) is not installed yet, we do have a working studio and we are starting to broadcast live from the ship.

This calls for a celebration, on the other hand nearly everything does. The question: ”When is it party time” is (amongst Seagull staff members) always answered: ”Anytime”!! Saturday the 28th of July we will have a special broadcast during day time, usually Radio Waddenzee air time. However as we are going to use the studio (until studio 2 is ready to go) together, the first official use of it will be a co-production between Waddenzee and Seagull. A “Summer hit top 120” is put together and will be going out that day on 1602. Shows will be presented by both Waddenzee and Seagull jocks.

Even though it will definitely not be the typical “Seagull” music, it will be fun to listen to.

Tune in on Saturday July 28th from 7 am till 7 pm

Marabu

As we have a special Summer schedule for the whole of July, we have agreed with Radio Marabu (who usually are scheduled between 7 pm – 8 pm CET) to skip their shows so Radio Seagull can optimize the use of her air time on 1602. Elsewhere on this web site you can find the new SCHEDULE

New voice

In the special Summer schedule you will find the name of Laura Jerome. She is the female voice we have been missing on Seagull until now. Tune in on Monday night to hear her great show.

Shoutcast

May 2007
Legendary transmitter engineer, Peter Chicago, visits our ship - the Jenni Baynton

May 2007: Work continues on the proposed Bridge studio

Friday 30th March
At 6.00pm Central European Time the transmitter was switched off at our temporary transmission site. Three hours later the transmitting equipment was in operation at the new location, which is about 50 miles west of the original inland site. It was anticipated that reception in the UK would improve and this has proved to be the case. Reception reports, based on transmissions from the temporary site,
had already been received from UK locations further inland: Sheffield and Stoke on Trent. Now that the new site is active reports have been received from London and more distant parts of Sweden.
