I am 47 years old and as far back as I can
remember I have always had an interest in music. My rebellious teen
years were accompanied by a sound track made up of punk rock & reggae,
and in Caroline I also had what I considered to be my own anti
establishment radio station to listen to. It was whilst listening to
Caroline that I developed a wider interest in radio from the basics of a
transmitter to presenting a program. Its was in the early nineties
whilst helping to refurbish the Ross Revenge that Chris Kennedy,
somewhat out of desperation at the time, asked me to help fill the
program schedules for short wave programs, after which to my
surprise asked if I would do some more. Since then I have presented
programs on numerous Caroline RSL's and a Radio Atlantis RSL and
subsequent internet service.
Its a happy return for me to Seagull
having provided programs a few years back for its early incantation
after the Dutch service of Caroline ceased. After becoming
somewhat bored with not all but a lot of radio in the UK it's great to
be associated with a station like Seagull where the music, regardless of
genre, is presented as the most important thing. At the same time as my
Seagull programs of rare and vintage soul I present a similar program
for a community station close to where I live in the UK, so at the
moment I am a very happy chappie as I get to play the music I love
listing to...
When I am not messing around with radio I
play drums for what will be the worlds next big super group and spend a
lot of time riding around on a Lambretta GP 200 scooter attending
rallies (jolly ups) around the country. Most important to me though is
Marion my wife who has put up with all this for the last 16 years.
